Team Plastic Oceanic!
We have gone back to school today, well bonkers high level science school!
We both have been learning all about biomimicry and bioplastics as well as brushing up on the latest ideas regarding circular economy, something K is working on locally with both councils and university.
We are always trying to learn more and try new things, so two days spent playing with potential natural and truly biodegradable materials, is well worth it.
And fun! Did I mention how much fun it is to play sometimes?! It’s sweet relief after a month of admin and moving stuff about. We all need to have time to play in our lives–sometimes that’s when the magic happens and genius moments occur.
Below is a small selection of ‘plastic’ made from all sorts of natural things from seaweed to fish skin!
Today we played, had fun and learnt even more about the potential uses for biomaterials.
We made seaweed plastic and algae plastic. We made our own natural dyes. We made ceramics out of egg shells and cocoa husks.
It was Awesome.
Only problem is that we now want a lab to play in, as well as our workshop 😂
If you’d like to find out more about what we did, there will be a video soon but in the meantime heres the incredible folk that took us on this journey:
Their website is so user friendly, anyone can get these materials from nature or online and follow a simple receipe and try it at home!
Go play ❤️
